Manorwood is a multi award winning consultancy. Below are details of some of the award winning projects that we have undertaken.

The Charleston trust's Barns and Galleries

Sussex Heritage Trust Public and Community award 2019  - Winner

Working alongside the main contractor Manorwood acted as both specialist consultant and contractor in the restoration and rebuilding of the roof of the historic barn.

The Hay and Threshing Barns had fallen into disuse after a fire in the 1980s. Visible flintwork, timberwork and significant engineering were required to stabilise them.

The buildings provide art galleries, exhibition space and a café/ restaurant.

Working with ECE Architects and Cheesmur, Manorwood undertook the repair and conservation works to the historic barn’s timber roofs and flint work, as well as providing project supervision throughout the long and complex project.

The Wiston Estate Winery redevelopment expands the Winery’s offering as a tourist destination breathing life into the historic barns.

Muddle House

Sussex Heritage Trust Small Scale Residential award 2023 - Winner

Working with Hartley Quinn Wilson Ltd Manorwood undertook the repair and enhancement of this Georgian urban house built in the 18th Century.

The property had been stripped of many of its original features keeping just the original late 18th-century staircase and internal doors. The owners were keen to take the opportunity to reinstate as much of the original character as possible including plaster cornices, oak flooring and panelling in the hallway.

The Spread Eagle, Midhurst

Sussex Heritage Trust Building Craft award 2023 - Winner

Manorwood provided heritage advice to assist Lion Roofing in the roofing of the 400 year old section of this historic hotel in Midhurst Town Centre using traditional materials and techniques as well as providing thermal improvement through the use of natural insulation.

The George in Rye

Sussex Heritage Trust Commercial award 2023 - Winner

Working alongside RX Architects Manorwood provided heritage advice and specifications for the conservation and repair work on the historic coaching inn formed from a cluster of interlinked listed buildings in the heart of the ancient citadel, which was subject to a devastating fire in July 2019.

The complex restoration project focused on a sustainable design ethos to renovate the existing building fabric combined with salvaged and reused materials.
